My cat Nino Rose is obese. I need to put her on a diet how do i?
She is a beautiful calico kitten and i love her to death. she is my life and my baby. Please help! I have two others and they are normal weight unlike her.

First of all, good for you for noticing that your cat needs to lose weight and deciding to take action!
First of all, you can cut back the food that you are feeding her. Try feeding all of them on a regular schedule at least twice a day. That way you can be sure that each is getting their required amount, and your Nino Rose isn’t eating her housemates’ share!
Don’t follow the instructions on the bag- it is always too much (they are trying to sell more food & don’t care if your cat is fat). A cat usually only needs 1/3 to 1/2 cup total per day. I personally feed my cats 1/4 cup twice a day. I keep a measuring cup in with my food so that I always give them the correct amount.
If you are interested in changing to a diet food there are many different brands to try, and you can likely find one that suits your kitty. If you can separate Nino Rose for feedings, you can switch just her to a diet food, or you can switch all three of them if you can’t separate them. Just remember to switch the food slowly by mixing the new food in slowly over a week or two so they don’t get diarrhea from the abrupt change.
Like people, excersise will help your cat lose weight. Make scheduled playtimes ( maybe 30 minutes twice a day) for you and Nino Rose when she chases a string or a laser light. This will also be lots of fun for you and make even a closer bond between the two of you!
Lastly, there are veterinarians that specialize in nutrition. There aren’t many, but they can often be found at vet schools and large specialty clinics. A nutritionist may have great feeding and execise tips for your kitty.
Keep in mind that cats lose weight VERY slowly. To force rapid weight loss can cause a liver condition called hepatic lipidosis, which can be very harmful. Be patient and the weight will come off in time.
