Algorfa is one of South Coast Blancaâ € ™ s many peoples of citrus farming country located in a rich and fertile valley of Segura. Located between the towns of Almoradi and Rojales, Algorfa has a large administrative area, but only a small village with a population of 2914 (2006). Algorfa is a traditional village Spanish with a rich cultural heritage and its people are warm and friendly nature.

It seems that institutions in the region around Algorfa, during the period Neolithic (4000 to 2000 BC), some human remains and tools have been discovered by a Jesuit archaeologist from Orihuela in 1903.

The municipality was founded Algorfa originally in 1328, when Alfonso II granted a privilege Algorfa the kingdom of Valencia, the first village of Algorfa which consisted of five families sheltering in fifteen houses. This privilege was withdrawn by Philip V until after the War of Spanish Succession (1701-1714), was later restored by Charles IV, at the request of the Marquis de Algorfa to 18th century.

The day of Algorfa is a quiet and friendly town, around the town square, where many festivals and celebrations take place. Located on the square people are the new Town Hall (built in 2004), church and police station (in conjunction with the Hotel de Ville) and a number of bars and restaurants visitors and locals can enjoy a drink and a good meal. Even the center of Algorfa is a quiet place where visitors are always given a warm welcome.

Sunshine is the order of the day in Algorfa and its residents can expect to see more than 300 days during an average year. Rains are rare and usually are limited to the cold winter months (most common months for rain in February and November) and annual average temperature around 19 degrees Celsius is normal.

While on a visit to Algorfa also can see some other attractions in the region â € "worth a visit are the picturesque church neo 19th Gothic (on the road Benejuzar), the vast gardens of the Palacio del Marqués Fontabla Jacarilla near Rojales cave houses and the Natural Park of Las Lagunas La Mata, Torrevieja (Natural Park of the salt lakes).

Algorfa has its own lively market on Sundays and always worth a trip.

Then a variety of sporting and leisure activities available in and around as La Finca Algorfa Golf Club â € "with its championship golf course located in a natural environment, the recreation center that offers a wide range of equipment and there are some beautiful cycling and hiking. A great variety of water sports are popular in local coastal cities and a large Aqua Splash park, near Quesada. And The Farm Golf Club, several other golf courses near Algorfa, particularly along the coast of Orihuela, where there are 3 golf courses nearby.

There are no beaches in Algorfa, because it is an inland town, but just down the road at Guardamar del Segura are in kilometers and miles of fine sandy beaches and some superb facilities for water sports. The surrounding coastline is renowned for its crystalline waters and there are wonderful places to diving and snorkeling.

Algorfa is next to the CV-91 between Orihuela and the coastal town of Guardamar del Segura. You can also easily accessible from AP the coastal road N-332 and Highway-7 (exit 740). The nearest airports are Alicante and Murcia (San Javier) Both are about an order of thirty-five minute drive.
