What I can associate with a vintage black calico skirt?

I bought this beautiful black gingham skirt vintage today. Places are large and there is a line, "around 1980. I need to find a style and color of the shirt, in addition to the back, without that it looks like a school uniform or slovenly. Any suggestion would be very useful. Thanks!

I'm an old man, with no sense of fashion. I do not know what I like and as I'm concerned about a woman in white black and can not commit an error. I do not if it's 50/50 or mainly with one color only a trace of the other. If everything is white or black to win in my book.
