How to clean a white, college bar hat vintage?

I have a reversal Clemson hat just like that, except http://product.images.fansedge.com/32-08/32-08527-F.jpg about 10 years and has gotten pretty dirty because my father used to wear. He is old enough so you do not want to rub too hard or anything or make believe worse, but how I can remove the stains diirt away from him? thanks

Place on top rack of dishwasher and washing machine, obviously, nothing else in the dishwasher. You can also run without soap for the first time, or use a small amount of laundry detergent (soap, not dishwasher unless you want your hat fresh lemon scent.) I recommend you invest in a cap of friends' baseball (google it for a zillion results) to keep wing shape intact.
